first off, apologies to some of my July commissions, not all of them were able to get started this month.
Wanted to update peeps what was going on so you could understand why I have been busy etc.
I love 3D printing and creating geeky items and accessories. While I don't make much money off them, I still consider my own BJD to be my main goal for my career and shop.
I have had an incredible TWO opportunities pop up to help me further my bjd love. I have been invited to be a guest at two BJD conventions this fall. The BJD convention in Atalanta October 18th-20th (atlantaballjointeddollconventi…), and the St. Louis Con in November 15th-17th (www.stlbjdcon.com/).
So what they are in the fall, why you so busy now? I am working with both conventions to create special convention dolls, no easy task. I am also trying to bring out a couple of new bjd items as well. All this time needing to model is part of it. As you may know 3D printing also takes time. I outsource the actual printing part to a company called shapeways. It takes several weeks if not longer to create my items and ship them back. Varies on time for the different materials etc. So in order to get the prototypes of the dolls finished with enough time for necessary reprints, stringing and putting together, blush ups painting etc on everything that I need for the convention and the vendor table. I also need to put together several panels..... yeah It's a ridiculous amount of work. Getting the prints as soon as possible will help in giving me more time to finish everything before the con. wish me luck....
Health issues add to it. I have something called fibromyalgia, which is kinda like a bad arthritis except it is the muscles instead of joints. Pretty much the pain receptors go into overreaction mode so the tiny little poke feels like a punch instead and I have to put like three pillows on my chair so I'm not screaming in pain...... Add that to many other problems like PYCOS, and depression, I have to take careful watch of my stress levels.
I am excited for this opportunity. I am trying out some new joints, and hope to meet lots of other doll artists. I will also be promoting a group fundraiser to help me create bigger dolls and to try resin casting.
Atlanta doll WIP:
Brownie Fey, a curious and helpful little fairy that is created from the earth. He/she is mushroom or toadstool based in design, with a mushroom cap that will fit on his head. As a special for the convention he will have a Pumpkin cap as well. *If you set out a saucer of milk brownies will come to your house and they will clean and do chores. If only if only...*sigh* He is super tiny and just under 10cm or 4inches.St. Louis doll WIP:
Impling, this little imp is full of mischeif and tricks. He is ready to hide your car keys, eat a sock out of every pair, and reprogram all your phone settings. he will be slightly taller than my previous dolls and is about 18cm or about 7 inches.Panels I will likely be doing: Creating a doll with 3D printing, Doll design contest, creating your dream business( tips, ideas, and all the pain that joy that comes with it). Maybe others....
