Hey guys! the new Crystal pony is in! All my attempts on photos could not accurately capture the beauty of this material! A frosted transparent plastic that is super smooth and highly detailed, makes this pony a must have for your collection. Also shown is our new smooth "polish" option with the pegasus on the right. available for any pony. This polished material looks and feels much closer to resin. Powder blushing and painting are a little more tricky, but with a undercoat or a bit more care, it is easy to manage.
Orders on male ponies now available, earth, unicorn, and pegasus available as well.
ok so... how do you paint them if its a jointed movable leg pony? won't the paint scrape off when you move the position of the legs? can you print it in colors so don't need to paint the body just the eyes and cutie mark in?
dyeing the pony is your best bet, the company I use to print offers a few dyes but not many. On the unpolished white, pastels once sealed do very well even with the joints.
the problem is my OC pony has a very hard color to match as you can see in my icon I wouldn't know where to begin if I wanted to order one and make my OC pony
well the non polished ponies take pastels really well. you just grind or shave the chalk stick into a powder mix like paint to get the right color then apply to pony, seal it with a clear protectors coat, dull unless you want it shiny. Testors, and mr hobby work the best in that. That's what i personally would do if it were mine.
I'm not that talented or I wouldn't need to buy one lol. I tried to make my own pony out of clay but it didn't turn out too well. I painted it but the paint scratches off and I did it slow with thin layers until it was thick enough and then I clear coated it with a protective coating spray but it still scratches off and yes I used Testors paints... donno how to paint statues and figures without them scratching. I would try dye but i don't know how to dye something without build up or faded spots.
I just know that most paint jobs eventually scratch in moving joints. That's why most toy companies don't paint their joints they instead use injected plastic in the color the base of the toy is inside the joints.
